As I looked for a new show to watch after finishing Prime Video’s hit Reacher, I stumbled across Apple TV’s hit Ted Lasso. First releasing in the late of 2020, Ted Lasso has become a loved show by many people, with episode ratings ranging from 7 to 9. As I sat back and watched the first episode, I instantly fell in love with the show. It explores many aspects of television, including drama, comedy, thrill, and so much more.
The show’s main plot is that of Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, an American football coach who has now been hired to coach an English soccer team, AFC Richmond. Season 1 shows Ted facing many challenges and setbacks, including integrating himself in a world unlike his own, challenging players to coach, a plan to destroy AFC Richmond by insiders, and his recent “break” him and his wife have decided to take, leaving him isolated from both his wife and his 8 year old son, Henry. But Ted’s optimistic and can-do attitude helps him navigate his way through this tough new world.
One of the main aspects of the show is its great comedy, mixed with amazing pacing of the plot. The show cracks jokes and witty lines almost every minute while still maintaining a great story filled with intense moments. The comedy almost never takes away from the plot, and vice versa, leaving the audience laughing while also tuned in as the story continues with the final episode of the season approaching.
In addition to that, the many characters with different personalities build upon one another in the best ways possible, making the show even better. The bonds forged between the cast members adds to their portrayed characters, with Jason Sudeikis maintaining his role as the central character.
Overall, Ted Lasso season 1 provides a fun but thrilling viewing experience for many people, and as I finish up season 2 and, ultimately, the show, I can’t wait to see what else it has in store for me and everyone else.
