Golf Team Update

Jack Henry Muha, Staff Writer

The golf team is off to a successful season this fall. Co-Captains Kyle Flatow and Ben Cowan are heading a team that is looking to make it to states this year. Kyle Flatow nearly made states last year, missing the cut only by two strokes. This year, he is determined to not only make it to states but to lead his fellow teammates there as well. Joe Fedro is yet another impressive senior looking to prove his game after a strong showing on the team last year. Joe plays a simple, effective, and consistent game that continues to improve as the season progresses. A pair of juniors, Tommy Coyne and Brett Rogers, have both proved themselves throughout the year. Tommy is returning for his second year on varsity, and he is looking to improve on his experience from last year. Brett came into this year having little experience at the varsity level, but he has proven himself. He has posted a couple of rounds in the high 70’s and provides the team with another strong player. Gavin Tallal is the youngest on the team, as he is only a sophomore. Much like Brett, Gavin has showed that little experience does not intimidate him. Look for Gavin to improve his skills, and become an exceptional golfer for the future of US. The team has high hopes this year and is looking to really make a run at states. The team’s best finish this year came at the Walsh Invitational where they had a total score of 304. Kyle Flatow, Ben Cowan, and Tommy Coyne all carded rounds in the 70’s. Obviously, the team has enough firepower and can seriously contend with any team in the state.
