US Soccer: An Interview with Kyle Winings

Griffin Butler

I sat down with Kyle Winings, varsity soccer captain, to ask him about his outlook on the team and the season. No stranger to the varsity team, Kyle was an essential component of last years team and will be even more important to the team’s success this year. So far Kyle has 5 goals and 3 assists. After a summer of hard work, the team has performed very well so far and is hoping to make a run for the state title.

What is your position?

Outside midfield

Who is the other captain?

Grant Wasserman

How much has the team changed since last season, and has the change in players changed the style of play for the team?

The team is basically the same team from last season. We lost a couple of player, but we also gained new players like George Nageeb and Michael Zeminek. The team’s style of play is better than last season; all of our returning players have improved their games since last season.

How is the season going so far compared to the previous season?

This season, we our starting off better than last season. We have the same amount of losses but less draws and more wins.

What’s your record so far?

8-1-1

Do you think the team’s success is because of the effort you all put in over the summer?

Absolutely. We all put in the work and made sure that we were ready for the season. We also became a lot closer; this connection has helped us as a team.

What game are you and the team most excited for?

The game we are most excited for is the Saint Ignatius game October 3rd. The student section makes a huge difference so we hope to see a lot of US boys at the game.
