After the Second Bird, the Fare Increases…
Elliot Zimet is a phenomenal illusionist who travels around the world amusing all. He visited the University School Hunting Valley Campus, and performed on Friday, January 29. His entertaining act was most notable for his birds, slight of hand card tricks, as well as numerous tricks involving the phones of audience members.
Elliot was born and raised in New York where he was inspired by the rich culture of the Bronx. When he was 9 he dreamed of becoming an illusionist. He learned by watching a few documentaries but mostly by reading many books. Elliot soon gained recognition and started performing for a circus. In an interview, he said he once performed in front of 15,000 people. Elliot soon departed from the circus industry to work on his own. He soon was touring the world and starring on many TV shows. When asked about the uniqueness of his acts, he said, “I have different types of shows for different venues. I have an illusion show that has dancers and, sometimes, my feathered friends make an appearance on stage.” He added that the way he travels varies as well. Sometimes he might travel by plane or car, he might travel alone or with his crew, with or without his parrots.
I asked, “How do you manage to travel with your birds?” To which he responded, “I travel with my parrot when I have enough room for his cage. As for the dove’s, I sometimes sneak them onto the plane. It’s hard flying with them because the fare of all my bags really starts to add up. Did you know that after the second bird, the fare increases?” To which the charming Dunadel Daryoush said, “Why can’t you just combine the birds and then tear them apart while on the plane?”

All in all, the show was very entertaining and students of University School should look forward to the return of hypnotist Tom Deluca for next year.
