US News Staff Investigative Report
The Mock Trial came back refreshed from the long weekend prepared to do battle in the hallowed halls of Cleveland’s historic Justice Center. While opening arguments and cross-examinations are being ferociously debated, a specter of old rivalry looms over tomorrow’s scrimmage against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School, the other nearby Catholic school.
NDCL has historically been one of University School’s fiercest rivals in the “Friday night lights” of indoor track, and it is quite possible that they are fast becoming a rival on par with Fuchs Mizrachi or Laurel. The scrimmage on Thursday is closed to the public, but it should be a less than violent affair, as both schools’ “indoor track” teams will be hard at work on sprinting, lifting weights, and tackling drills. The Mock Trial team will be competing next Friday at the Cleveland Justice Center for the honor of the school’s 7 championship seasons over the past 21 years [sic].
They are fast becoming a rival on par with Fuchs Mizrachi or Laurel.
An unidentified mock trial member is reported to have said “I don’t think it was that many.” Faculty advisors Mr. Cate and Dr. Thomas have been working hard to prepare the teamsters for battle; the fruits of their labor will soon be realized.
