On behalf of the Senior Class, University School has revived its annual Halloween Costume Pageant. Each house elected one representative per grade to compete in the main assembly. Today’s Pageant was led by Dr. Trutor, in his second year at US, who replaced Jack ‘The Captain’ Fisher as the MC of the competition.
After the year long hiatus of the assembly, the pent up spirit and energy of Halloween was present among the student body. Dr. Trutor led with witty commentary which audibly enthused an already energetic crowd.
This year, students showed a mix of both creativity and plain laziness with their costumes. From generic store-bought outfits to witty and tongue-in-cheek costumes, the students certainly brought a wide variety of Halloween spirit to the assembly. Costumes included but were not limited to:
- ‘Self-Absorbed’ Sponge Man (Ryan O’Malley ‘17)
- Cam Hubbard ‘18 as himself
- ‘One Night Stand’ (Cole Goldberg ‘16)
- Guy Fieri
- Hawaiian Hulu Dancer (Ryan Hammer ‘18)
- Plantains (Several individuals including Dunadel Daryoush ‘16, Charlie Hall ‘17)
- Half Business/Half Party (Henry Wilhelm ‘16)
- Adam Tropper ‘17 as himself
- Pacman (Quinn Stevenson ‘17)
- Zach Galifianakis from The Hangover (Gus Childres ‘17)
- Haunted Groomsmen and his Bride (Troy Young ‘17)
- Stylin’ Jacob (Jacob Brooks ‘18)
- Pirate (David Diaz ‘19)
- LED Christmas Tree Man
- Marty McFly (Derek Stamberger ‘17)
- ‘Roller Skaters’ (Who certainly did not dress up just to roll around with roller skates all day)
The faculty judges, including first-year Headmaster Ben Rein, chose an overall winner as well as winners in each grade.
